Anniversary Special - The First EVER Urban Meltdown - November 2011

Well the Urban Meltdown kicked off exactly one year ago, so to celebrate we have pulled the first ever edition of the show out of the vaults. Now take into account this programme was a "soft opening" and was not promoted heavily, so not many people would have ever heard it. Here it is, unedited - in all of its raw and imperfect glory!! Enjoy!

Return of the Mack???

Mark Morrison, K.O. MCcoy, Young Buck Release “Wanna Be Your Man 2.0”, Cover Of Roger Troutman’s 80s Hit Single

Mark Morrison, K.O. MCcoy and Young Buck deliver a brand new cover of the 80’s hit single “I Want To Be Your Man” by late funk artist Roger Troutman of Zapp.

“Wanna Be Your Man 2.0” sees Morrison team with Allure Entertainment recording artist K.O MCcoy aka The Queen of Nashville, and former G-Unit emcee Young Buck, with production from DJ Dev, Broadway and Lil Dev of Devastatin Musik.

The song is set to appear on the British R&B stars upcoming album, I Am What I Am, due early 2013. This year marks the 25th anniversary of “I Want To Be Your Man”, originally released in 1987 by Roger Troutman, on his Unlimited! album. It reached number-one on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart and number-three on the Billboard Hot 100.

Farewell Lick Mix (compiled by Nick Alexander with continuous mix from DJ Skooby)

The year was 1988, the club was Bokos in Subiaco and Nick Alexander was freshly arrived in Perth from the UK to spread his brand of "black" music. The initial reaction from club owners was 'ïf you think you are going to play that music in this town, you might as well head to the airport and get back on the plane right now"!!!!

25 years on, it was only fitting that Nick Alexanders farewell Lick Party was held in the same venue (now Flawless), with a packed house of old school RnB and Soul lovers to farewell Perth's Godfather of RnB. With so many contributions to the scene from clubs to radio to groundbreaking mix CDs, Nick Alexander will be sorely missed when he departs for the USA at the end of October.

The Farewell Lick mix CD was given away on the night. For anyone who missed it, here is an upload of the mix for your enjoyment! Count this as the final Essential Selection.
